It matters not whether you are left or right, red or blue, or somewhere in between. Hate is an equal opportunity killer. And as we’ve all learned, “killer” is literal these days. Choose your description… epidemic, sickness, satanic, all of the above. The 249-year fabric of our nation has been tattered as never before,

But wait, some may argue… the politics are to blame… or the guns, gunmen/women, shooters, mental health, and certainly social media. They are complicit. But *the killer… is hate. And it’s in hearts as sure as fingers are on triggers what seems like every day now.
Kill The Messenger
We stop for a moment when a high-profile target is the victim… the cowardly killing of Charlie Kirk, lawmakers in Minnesota, school kids across the country, the President. And then we go on with life. What else can we do?
Killer Hate
What we can do is some introspection. “I don’t really hate the other side,” one may reason within. But if we think it, talk it, post it… be assured that’s not love talking. **“I would never resort to actual violence.” That may be true. But once again, hate wins. And it disseminates easily and quickly. If you didn’t read social media after the latest political assassination… don’t.
Hate is anything but harmonic to the America most love or hope to see. Killing someone who promotes debate among young people must also intend to kill free speech. Stalking legislators and judges drains life from democracy. Debate, discussion, dissent are messy, but very American. Killing who and what can’t otherwise be silenced is evil personified. Whatever happens here and now… eternal consequences cannot be avoided.
No Hate Think
Almost all are sick of the killing… the demonizing and partisan vitriol. Why does this plague go on and on? Yes, we could fault politics and positions left and right. But make no mistake. It’s the hate. It’s time to exit the hate think that drives some to the extreme. ***We can look inside if we dare… God always forgives… and might revive people hating each other to death. It’s not too late.
